Course |
The course is designed around the critical step of “Excavation Inspection and Documentation,” which has recently been termed the 3rd step in Direct Assessment. The focus will be on the validation and correlation of both ILI results
and/or Direct Assessment techniques through non- destructive testing in the excavation.
Course premise
"The pig is wrong" is not often the case, and “No anomalies found” is not enough information.
Course objective
On completion of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of the minimum requirements to ensure maximum correlation with ILI and Direct assessment results during an excavation program. In addition, each participant will walk away
with a general understanding of the available technology and procedures to implement contracts, increase quality, and reduce overall project costs.
Who should attend
The course is specifically designed for project managers, engineers and technical personnel responsible for the management, implementation and reporting of pipeline integrity inspection activities.
Lecturer
Bob Simmons is the Pipeline Integrity Manager with Metalogic Inspection Services. With headquarters in Houston and Edmonton, Metalogic focuses on advanced inspection technology, software and procedures for pipeline excavations, ILI and DA correlation.
Bob has been in the Non Destructive Testing industry for 18 years, the last 14 of which have been focused on SCC, Corrosion, ERW and Mechanical anomaly verification and assessment on pipelines. Bob’s current focus is working with operators on
the development and implementation of excavation programs to ensure proper documentation and maximum correlation accuracies are achieved with ILI and DA techniques.
Course Notes
Comprehensive course notes as well as reference material will be provided, a valuable guide for future applications.
Continuing Education Units
Upon completion of the course, participants will be eligible to receive .6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
