Course documentation

You will receive, in advance, a digital PDF of the complete course document; you should print a copy in advance for notation during the course.

Textbooks

If your course includes any supplemental materials, like textbooks, they will be sent as electronic versions via email, or as a hard copy no later than a week after the close of the course. eBook formats vary with publishers, and you may need to acquire and install associated software.

Joining the course

Several days before the course you will receive an email with a link to the meeting. The link (meeting) will become active 30 minutes prior to the start time of the course.

What you will need

Before you can join the online course that you have signed up for, you must follow a few steps to guarantee that you have a successful experience attending remotely.

  • The Zoom Cloud Meeting application installed on your system.
  • Webcam (optional)
  • Microphone & speakers/headphones or headset
  • Broadband (non-secured) bandwidth of 3 Mbps – wired connection strongly recommended

  • PC: Windows 10, Windows 8 or 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista with SP1 or later , Windows XP with SP3 or later
  • Linux: Ubuntu 12.04 or higher, Mint 17.1 or higher, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4 or higher, Oracle Linux 6.4 or higher, CentOS 6.4 or higher, Fedora 21 or higher, OpenSUSE 13.2 or higher, ArchLinux (64-bit only)

Note: Linux requires a processor or graphics card that can support OpenGL 2.0 or higher.

Zoom Cloud Meeting application

To attend this course remotely, the Zoom Cloud Meeting application must be downloaded and installed. If you are doing this through a computer at your office, it may require permission from your IT department.

Once you have checked to make sure that your system meets or exceeds the requirements listed above, you will need to download the Zoom application. To do so, follow this link: https://zoom.us/j/4953512784

Follow the on-screen instructions for downloading and installing the Zoom application.

When you have downloaded and installed the application, you will need to test it to make sure you do not have any problems in joining our test meeting. To join the test meeting, click the link above again. This link will take you to a meeting room where you can check your audio input to your microphone, the audio output from your speakers and/or headset, and the video from your webcam.

Once you verify that your audio/visual needs are being met, take a few minutes to look around and familiarize yourself with the tools and controls. Once you feel that you understand the basic operation, click ‘Leave Meeting.’ At this point you will have successfully tested the Zoom application on your computer and will be ready to use it for the scheduled course you signed up for.

Note: When you join our test meeting, there will be no host or content. This meeting is just intended for the testing of your computer and to get you comfortable using the program.
